You’ll never forget the first time you try a Turkish street food wrap known simply as the dürüm… for me it was the third day of my first trip to Istanbul. And I went on to eat it three more times in the next day and a half.
A dürüm (Turkish pronunciation: [dyˈɾym]) is a wrap or “roll” that is usually filled with typical döner kebab ingredients or other types of Turkish kebab. The wrap is made from lavash or yufka flatbreads. Dürüm has been described as one of the top Turkish street foods by countless food critics.
Dürüm is also one of the most democratic Turkish culinary inventions. Why?
You’re just as likely to encounter it on a street corner as you are at the fanciest of restuarants. Whether it’s the chicken, beef, cheese, or veggie (falafel anyone?) variety you prefer, this meal in wrap form is sure to set you free from your hunger pangs.
And actually, döner kebab and döner dürüms have found fame in other parts of Europe, most especially in Germany where it’s one of the top fast foods in the country. Today, some people mistakenly think the food itself comes from Germany.
Another mouth-watering video for y’all… this one of a beautiful kebab rack in Turkey… 😍😍😍😍
One question: do they deliver!?
Is there any chance to get a good Dürüm / Döner in Shenyang? There is one place called Jimmy’s but honestly it’s not the one I know and expecting from Europe… sorry for that!
I only know of Jimmy’s in Shenyang, sorry… Maybe these guys would deliver from Tianjin? http://doenerkebab.com.cn – or open up a franchise? Time to find a local business partner!
