Todays emoji was inspired by the Little Libraries post which, if you missed it, you can check it out here:
One of the first things people notice when they walk into my classroom is my library. I have books quite literally everywhere from on the floor to the bookshelves to stacked on random desk… I have close to 400 books in my classroom alone. There is no reason why any of my students would be lacking in something they would want to read. Walk into my classroom and I can probably offer you something that will grab your interest in a matter of minutes. My Star Wars Encyclopedia has been the biggest hit of the year.
I grew up reading everything. I was the girl who went to bed with a flashlight and a book trying to be sneaky after lights out. (I’m not good at being sneaky so never worked.) Throughout grade school and high school, I was always reading something. When the Beast gave Belle the library, I swooned. When my two closest China friends said “Let’s get book tattoos”, I was on board immediately. I use the hashtag #wecantputbooksdown every time I go to Hong Kong to see what new titles I should buy.
So it’s no surprise that when I found todays emoji, I started using it a lot. 📚 is a pretty simple emoji that just means a stack of books. Sometimes it could mean that you have an overwhelming amount to read. Other times it could be use to show that you are not sure where to start when choosing which book to read. I use it when I get new books or when I am not sure what to buy. My friends are often telling me:
But seriously… this happens every other day. 😳
There are no good synonyms or antonyms for the emoji this week so I’m just to going show you how to add it to the end of a sentence or use it in place of a word!
😥 📚 .
In this sentence, the emoji could mean “I have to study.”
🙅🏻 📚 .
This sentence is one I use almost every day. I use it to tell people that I want the books, but probably shouldn’t buy any more.
📚 👠 ?
Books or shoes? The struggle is real.
👀 📚 🐪 !
I need a book about camels!
Okay, this emoji can literally be used every day! Show off your uses in the comments.
And for bonus points, name this classic movie:
